One Week!

So it has been one week since I had surgery. I am feeling better. I have been out and back to normal life. But I am tired and cold a lot. I think that has to do with the amount of calories I have been able to get in. So I am starting to add yogurt to my protein shakes to get more calories.

But I am down 13 pounds since pre surgery diet. 7 lbs since surgery.

Last Night/ This morning....

Oh.My. Word.

Last night was rough. I have some abdominal pain where the port is. Expected. It is getting better. Tuesday it was a 10+/10, now I am kinda getting used to it. But It is like a 7-8/10.

So the next big hurdle is the gas pains. They fill your belly with gases to do abdominal surgery. Now I have never experienced it before. I was always the nurse who had you walk, walk, walk. When I was working I just never understood who much this hurts. I would watch people cry and ask for pain meds (which do nothing for gas) but you just never fully know until you experience it.

Last night Rob and I were laying in bed watching Law and Order and my belly started to rumble. So I got up to try and walk the gas out. Well all of a sudden I was throwing up (I could feel the gas bubbles that were coming out). Luckily the hospital gave me this smelly stuff that helps with nausea. So I sniffed and walked and cried. It was a good hour until I felt I could lay down again.

Finally in bed! Asleep.

I woke up at 3:30 to use the bathroom and I took some pain meds. It took a minute for me to get out of bed. Rob woke up and in a panic that something was wrong. Poor guy, he has been a great nurse. I did a few laps and went back to bed.

The kids were up by 6. Rob went to work for the morning. Luckily my Paige and Emalee can do most stuff themselves. Charlie is taking them to school for me. Nina is on standby for pick us (if Rob is not out in time).

I got on the scale this morning. Still fully of gas I am down 3lbs. So that is positive. I have taken in 150 cals the last two days. So it was likely to go down :) I got a call from the surgeons nurse. I can shower and start drinking protein shakes. I see her next week.

So here is to a better day!
